Bleu de Nord is the blue of February light on snow — clear, cold and a little electric, without any navy weight to it. On soft leather it stays surprisingly wearable, because the pebbled surface mutes what could have been a hard, sporty blue.
A whisker over seven inches tall, the Picotin Lock 18 is the compact bucket with one rolled handle and the strap ends crossing through the lock plate at the top. Taurillon Clemence supplies the thick, matte grain and the willingness to slouch; the gold hardware, meanwhile, does something interesting — it warms the northern blue just enough to keep it out of winter sports territory.
I use this one as my clear-weather bag: phone, keys, cardholder, a lipstick, and a paperback the size of my palm for train rides. Everything fits with a little air to spare, and the open top means I never have to fish around blindly when my stop arrives.
In practice this is the bag that travels with a denim jacket and a white shirt, and it looks sharply modern against black — a pairing the gold hardware keeps from going icy.
Two honest notes. Indoors, away from daylight, this blue darkens by a shade or two — expect it. And as with every Clemence bag, the shape is soft by design: it leans, folds and stays charming, provided you keep it padded in storage rather than flattened in a dust bag at the bottom of a pile.
