Who says a charm has to shout? The all-Sésame Pegase is the answer for anyone who loves the winged-horse silhouette but wants it in the quietest possible voice. Every part — body, mane, wing — sits within a shade or two of the same soft beige. I bought it as the antidote to a loud bag collection and it has cured me. It has the calm of a piece you would keep even if nobody ever noticed it.
Its 9.7 cm by 7.8 cm body is cut in Milo and Swift, the two leathers doing their usual split of duties: Milo for the velvety horse, Swift for the stiff, clean-edged wing that gives the shape its lift. Up close you read every construction line; from a metre away it looks like one carved object.
Tone-on-tone is its own discipline. Mine rides on a Sésame-toned bag most weeks and the match is so exact that only the stitching gives it away — a private satisfaction I recommend to anyone tired of contrast for its own sake. On black or navy it becomes a quiet beige mark. In flat winter daylight it looks carved from almond paste, which sounds odd and is actually lovely.
The trade-off is honest and simple: a monochrome charm can read flat in photographs and invisible on a beige bag, and the light leather will amber slightly along the mane with years of handling. Some of us wait for exactly that colour to arrive.
