Blue Agate is what happens when blue is left to cool properly: a greyed, stone-toned shade with a banded quality that shifts between slate and sea depending on the hour. It is the blue equivalent of a favourite sweater — the one you reach for without deciding.
A compact eighteen centimetres by any measure, the bag is the Picotin Lock 18 with its one rolled handle, soft base and straps meeting the lock plate at the top. Taurillon Clemence gives the stone blue its grain-thick surface and its willingness to soften; the gold hardware adds a single vein of warmth, like a seam of quartz through the shade.
My typical carry is small and practical: phone, keys, a cardholder, a lip balm, and a folded reusable bag for unplanned detours through shops. The soft walls mean nothing rattles and nothing presses, and the modest size means it never shuffles books or elbows on a busy train.
For styling, I put it with oatmeal knitwear and grey wool and let the gold do the one bright thing. The compact size means it works under a long coat without arguing about proportions.
Two honest notes. In shade this blue leans grey and quiet; if you want a blue that announces itself, choose differently. And like all Clemence, it will drape and slouch with use — store it lightly stuffed, treat the softening as the material’s signature, and this stone-blue will age like the material it is named for.
