Etoupe is the colour I recommend when someone tells me they want one pair of Orans and one only. It is a warm grey-brown that changes with the light, cool against white and warm beside olive, and there is almost nothing in a summer wardrobe it does not sit well with. This pair is swift calfskin, smooth and supple, with the H cut-out and a natural leather sole.
The construction matters as much as the colour: a leather edge, lambskin across the insole and lining, a heel of one centimetre and a front-to-heel difference of half a centimetre. In wear, swift moulds quickly to the shape of the foot, so the sandal feels personal after a week. Reference H202230Z X3360, made in Italy, available from 36 to 41.
In practice mine function as the default pair for travelling. They go with everything I pack, they slip off at airport security, and they are comfortable enough for a day of walking that involves no decision-making about shoes. For a wedding on grass or a long dinner, the same pair works; etoupe never looks out of place.
If there is a complaint, it is that swift is soft enough to crease where the foot flexes. That is normal for the leather and part of how it feels. Stuffing the H gently between wears helps the sandal keep its line, and a cloth with a little cream settles the creases down.
