There is a reason black survives every trend: it is the bag that matches what you have already put on. This Lindy 30 in Noir with gold hardware is my default when I am leaving the house in under a minute, and it has never once been the thing I regretted wearing.
The noir here is deep and soft rather than lacquered, thanks to Clemence’s pebbled, matte Taurillon grain. Gold hardware warms the black instead of competing with it. The Lindy’s architecture – two rolled handles, a shoulder strap, curved side pockets with little clasps – is the same in every colour, but in black the folds and seams read most clearly.
At 30 x 19 x 16 cm it holds more than it looks: a tablet, a long wallet, a folded scarf, sunglasses, a snack, keys and a phone – the last two usually live in the side pockets. The slouch means contents settle instead of stacking, so soft dividers help if you are orderly by nature.
What I would flag: black Clemence shows lint and dust a little, and the matte grain can look dry in winter when the air is cold and heated. A wipe with a soft cloth and an occasional light condition keep it even.
Boring? Probably. The bag I reach for most? Without question. I rotate it with a beige bag in summer, but the black has never spent a week in the cupboard.
