Khaki, stone, putty: the palette of a well-made raincoat, and this Lindy 26 in Trench wears those tones as if they were its own. If your coats run to those colours, the bag effectively matches your outerwear, which is a small pleasure I did not anticipate until I owned it.
Twenty-six by eighteen by twelve centimetres, so the smaller Lindy: it holds an A5 notebook, a wallet, a pouch, a sunglasses case, a phone and keys. In Clemence, the leather is thick and faintly spongy, and the bag keeps that signature soft fold along the top. Silver hardware on Trench is quiet and slightly utilitarian, in the best sense.
Carried crossbody, the strap sits just below the waist on me; on the shoulder it tucks under the arm. The two rolled handles are still there if I want the hand-carry look, though on the 26 they are almost decorative for someone with my hands.
Honest limitations: this is a personal-items bag, not a work bag – no laptop, no A4 folder. And light-mid tones like Trench will pick up colour from a dark coat over a winter; a wipe at the end of the season has kept mine even, but there is a faint softening where the strap rests.
As a daily bag for the person who travels light, it is close to perfect. Paired with a stone trench it looks like part of the coat rather than an accessory, a trick I now use deliberately.
