Rouge H carries more brick than cherry, and that is what makes it wearable: a deep, dusty red that looks like it has been sitting in the paint box for a century. On the mini it behaves almost like a dark neutral until the light catches it, and then it is unmistakably red. Hold it beside a true cherry red and the difference is almost dusty; hold it beside brown and it burns.
The 21 cm mini proportions in Evercolor and Swift, with gold hardware providing the warm frame. The leather takes the deep dye without patchiness, which is the thing I check first on any red bag; run a thumb across it and the colour holds all the way through the fold.
It holds my phone, cards, keys and a tiny pot of balm, and it has never once been the bag I leave behind, because a red this composed goes with wool, linen and denim in equal measure. It is also the bag people borrow and then text me about.
My caveat: in dim rooms this red reads brown, and anyone expecting fire-engine brightness will be disappointed. If you want the loud red, this is not it; if you want the deep one, nothing else here comes close.
Rouge H is the colour I would choose if a single bag had to carry me through a whole winter of rehearsals and dinners. Deep colours like this reward patience, and Rouge H has never once made me wait.
