This is the bag that retired my weekend tote. KK ostrich from South Africa is noticeably lighter than any calfskin at the same size, so even fully loaded it never pulls on the shoulder — and the fact that it holds almost nothing stops me overpacking to begin with.
Blue Glacier under silver hardware is the quietest way to wear an exotic. The pale blue has almost no saturation; what you notice first is texture, the fine quill pattern catching light like water, and only on the second look does the colour register as blue rather than grey-white. Guests at dinner study the texture before they can name the colour.
Inside the 19 x 12 x 5.5 cm frame I keep it to a phone, a cardholder, keys and lip balm. On a short trip it slides into a carry-on and doubles as the evening bag I would otherwise have packed separately — that single trick is why it travels with me.
Honest notes from a year of use: the quills flatten where the flap closes and along the back, and brushing them gently in one direction brings them back. Ostrich also dislikes being over-conditioned — a little, rarely, is the correct dose.
If I had to choose one piece for a wedding in another city, this would be it. It has flown twice this year and come out of the overhead bin needing nothing more than a brush.
