Gold leather with silver hardware sounds like a mistake until you see it. Here the tan gold of the Swift calfskin stays warm and natural – think honey, not brass – while the silver clasps read as a cool counterpoint, and the tension between them is the most interesting thing about the bag.
The Kelly Jump is a genuinely small pack: 18 by 14.5 by 6 centimetres, about two hands tall. I use it for the school run and short city walks, carrying a phone, keys, a cardholder, a slim sunglass case and a lipstick. That fills it comfortably. Swift is buttery and takes colour richly, which is why this gold feels deep rather than flat.
On the back, the straps sit close and the pack hangs high, so it never swings when I cycle. The flap tucks under its strap closure in one motion, and the front keeps a neat, uncluttered face. There is no interior organisation to speak of, so a small zip pouch keeps keys from scratching the leather.
Trade-offs: the light gold will show a smudge from sunscreen or hand cream, so I wipe the flap with a dry cloth now and then. And Swift, being soft, will not keep a rigid shape – the pack slumps slightly when empty, which I find charming but is worth knowing before you buy.
With denim, white cotton or navy, it looks like an old favourite from day one.
