Black on black is a decision, not a default. On this Kelly Depeches 25 the hardware all but disappears into the Noir Togo, which leaves the pebble grain and the clean line of the flap to do the talking. I carried it through a week of meetings and never once felt it pulling attention away from the person across the table.
The folio is 25 by 19.5 cm and only 4 cm deep, so it slips into the laptop sleeve of my tote or into the crook of my arm alongside a notebook. Inside I keep a passport, a slim cardholder, and the receipts I never get around to filing. Because the depth is fixed, it rewards editing: pack it past its limit and the soft Togo begins to round at the corners, the honest cost of a leather this pliable.
Togo is the workhorse of the family, lightly pebbled and matte, forgiving of the keys and umbrellas that share space in a bag. On this pouch it will relax into a gentle curve over the years rather than stay board-flat. Black hardware is the part to think hardest about: it is discreet, but this darker finish picks up fingerprints far more readily than the polished kind.
Mine goes from desk to dinner without changing bags, which is the whole point of a folio this slim. If you want your leather to announce itself, look at another finish; if you want one that disappears into your routine, this is it.
