Emerald crocodile is not a quiet choice, and it is not meant to be. Vert Emeraude across the Nile crocodile scales sits somewhere between a jewel and a forest: matte enough for daytime, deep enough that a candlelit dinner seems to light it from within.
I like Nile crocodile at this size because the scales have room to show. On a 28, the pattern runs across the flap as deliberate texture, larger and flatter tiles than alligator, with a softness in the hand that surprises anyone expecting a stiff, glassy exotic. The matte finish does not flash; it absorbs light and gives back color.
Inside the 28 x 22 x 10 cm body there is space for what a workday plus an evening actually requires: phone, cardholder, keys, a compact, reading glasses and still a folded scarf at the end. The single compartment stays tidy if you think in pouches rather than piles.
Gold hardware suits the green; the two warm each other, where silver would have made the bag feel cooler and more corporate.
Be aware of one thing before choosing crocodile: these scales reward a little maintenance. In very dry air they can lift at the edges over time, so I keep the bag in its dustbag, away from radiators, and apply leather cream lightly twice a year. Do that and it will out-age most calf bags in the closet.
