Some bags whisper; this one orders the table’s attention. Rouge Piment, chili red, in glossy Box calf is the most saturated piece I have ever carried, and on the Kelly 25 the effect is closer to a lacquered jewel than to anything in a normal closet. Gold hardware amplifies it the way salt does chocolate.
Box takes this red perfectly because of its polish. The color has no texture to distract from itself, no pebble, no print, just a clean, deep tide of red that changes with every moving light in a room.
Carrying it means accepting the consequences: people comment, strangers ask, and a neon-lit restaurant turns the bag into a small red lamp. Inside, the 25 x 17 x 7 cm shell keeps its end of the bargain with the routine list, phone, cardholder, keys, lip balm, arranged so the bag rests flat at the table, every line still defined by the finish. The bag has a presence that has nothing to do with its size.
Now the honest half: Box likes menus and nails better than rain and keys. It will show scratches from the careless, though most buff out, and damp weather is a bigger threat here than on Epsom. If you want a red bag you can throw around, this is not it. If you want a red bag people refuse to stop looking at, you have found it.
