Last month I wore this to a long dinner where the table had opinions about bags. The Etoupe Evercolor drew quiet approval: taupe warming under restaurant light, gold hardware catching the glow, and nothing about it shouting for attention. The table’s verdict, by the end of the evening, was unanimous.
The twenty-three centimetre body holds phone, cards, keys and a lipstick for after dinner, and the strap-over-flap keeps everything seated while I am standing with a glass in one hand. Crossbody length on me, with enough adjustment to ride higher over a dress. Drawn in a notch, the strap also tucks the bag under an arm for formal rooms.
Evercolor’s fine grain gives the taupe a smooth, matte finish, and the gold-tone rings on the strap add the only shine. Compared with the silver version of this colour, the bag feels a degree warmer, which is what I want in candlelight and low-lit rooms. The metal rings click faintly when the bag swings, a detail I have grown fond of.
Two honest notes. First, the closure is a two-second ritual rather than a snap, so practice before a night out. Second, a full-size wallet will not fit, which is a feature if you enjoy travelling light and a limitation if you do not. I belong to the first category, clearly. Practice once at home and the dinner invitation will take care of the rest. That is the entire case for carrying small.
