Gold, when it names a leather rather than a metal, is never really gold. The shade this house calls ck37 sits somewhere between honey and toffee, warm without being orange, and on the In the Loop 18 it is the kind of neutral that quietly improves everything it is worn against.
The bag itself is a soft bucket with a loop handle: eighteen centimetres wide, roughly twenty to the top of the loop, twelve deep at the gusset. Taurillon Clemence gives it that pillowy, pebbled surface that catches light like the skin of a peach, and the silver-tone hardware here adds a cooler note against the warm tan.
I take it to museums and long lunches: sunglasses in a case, a small pouch of cards, keys and a paperback all fit comfortably, and because the leather is soft, the bag hugs the hip when it is carried on the shoulder. The interior is one open space, so I keep things in pouches; buckets reward a little discipline. Carried on the shoulder, the strap settles at a length that lets the bucket rest against the hip without swinging.
The honest part: pale tan is a faithful record of its owner, and the base will darken slightly where it rests on cafe floors and car seats. I keep it on a shelf rather than the floor of a wardrobe, and I have stopped mourning the small dark mark it earned on a train. It reads as character now.
