One turn instead of two is a small change with a big effect. As a single tour, this Glenan reads lighter and more discreet than the doubled version: a single braided line of Swift calfskin, 0.12 inches wide, sitting exactly where a fine chain bracelet would, with a Glenan closure in palladium plating. It fits wrists of 5.7 to 6.1 inches, with Italian workmanship throughout.
The colour is Mauve Sylvestre, a soft, grey-dusted purple that behaves almost like a neutral. Because the braid is so thin, that mauve arrives as a suggestion rather than a statement, which is what makes it wearable if you have never owned a purple accessory before. Against bare skin it looks warmer than it does in the photograph.
In my own rotation this is the bracelet that goes with everything I would otherwise wear bare. Under a white shirt cuff it shows as a sliver of mauve and silver, with a linen sleeve it becomes part of a summer look, and with a watch on the opposite wrist it keeps both arms balanced without making either one busy. It also works well alongside a chunky enamel bangle, thinning out the stack.
Two honest observations from wearing it. The braid is delicate enough that a jagged edge, a zip or a bag buckle can tug it, so it is not the bracelet for a day of moving furniture, and Swift’s smooth finish means hand cream and water are best avoided on that wrist. Store it straight, not coiled tightly. Made in Italy.
