Framboise is the sort of name that promises more than most colours deliver, but 90 Framboise is genuinely the inside of a raspberry – cool at the edge, warmer at the heart. I ordered it expecting a summer-only bag and ended up wearing it through winter, because chèvre takes dye so evenly that the pink never looks flat or chalky under grey light.
Goat leather is the quiet workhorse of the leather world. It is lighter than it looks, resists scratching better than smooth calf, and has a fine grain that catches a soft sheen rather than a high gloss. On a structured frame like this, it keeps a clean shape while feeling a touch more forgiving against the body than pressed calfskin. The silver hardware is the right partner here: cool metal against a warm pink keeps the whole thing from turning sweet.
At twenty-four centimetres across, fifteen tall and five deep, it takes an honest everyday load – long wallet, phone, keys, a compact mirror, sunglasses without their case. It rides at the hip on the fixed strap, and because the hardware sits under the flap it never digs in. I have used it as a travel bag for a day trip and as an evening bag after dark; it does both without changing character.
One caution: chèvre is more forgiving of scratches than of spots. Any oil – sunscreen, hand cream – will darken a small patch of the grain and take a while to even out, so I keep lotion on the other hand. Also worth knowing: pink shades like this one show wear less than white but more than black, so I rotate rather than abuse it.
