There is a particular green that only looks right on alligator, and Vert Emeraude is it. Bright-faced glazing turns the scutes into something closer to enamel than leather, deep emerald in the shadows and brilliant where the light lands, and the gold clasp completes the jewel effect without cheapening it. This is the most dramatic bag I own, and I deploy it deliberately.
Measuring 19 cm wide, 15 high, 4 deep, it takes a phone, a slim wallet, keys and a lipstick, and nothing else. That is not a limitation for what this bag is for: dinners, openings, anything where one carried object should carry the evening.
Bright-faced alligator is a fair-weather material in the strict sense. Every rain spot and dry edge shows sooner on a mirror finish than on matte, so this bag lives in its sleeper between outings, gets wiped with a dry cloth before it goes back, and is conditioned only sparingly when the scales ask for it. Mine has kept its glass over an 18-month rotation because of that routine, not in spite of it.
Honest advice: if you want an exotic you can carry daily without thinking twice, choose the matte finish instead. If you want one green that behaves like a gemstone on demand, this is unmatched. The glazing has kept its depth through a careful year of outings, and the scales remain flat with no lifting at the hinge, which is where I always look first. Handled on those terms, it is a once-in-a-collection piece.
