Canvas on a leather-goods sneaker is a bet either way: too much and it reads gym, too little and you wonder why it is there. On this pair the H canvas takes the upper panels while calfskin frames the structure, so the shoe looks moulded rather than knitted, and the prunoir black against white keeps every line legible.
The white rubber sole stands 4 cm high and runs clean from toe to heel, with a black rubber insert at the front and honey at the back, a composition borrowed from the sole of the very first Bouncing. The white lamb’s skin insole and stitched mesh lining make the inside brighter than the outside, which sounds like nothing until you wear a dark shoe through a long day.
The box hides a small pleasure: two pairs of white laces, so the second set can live in a travel bag while the first gets dirty without ceremony. The black fabric ribbon at the heel gives you something to pull; use it, because yanking canvas shoes by the collar is how collars die. Made in Italy, sizes 36 through 41.
An honest limitation: canvas is not leather, and it will soften at the crease lines where the toe box flexes. Mine has stayed presentable because the stress zones are reinforced, but no canvas sneaker that has actually been walked in looks new after two years.
