Yellow is the colour I get asked about most and recommended least, which is a shame, because a warm amber yellow like Jaune Ambre is far easier to carry than the bright lemon people picture. It has brown in its base, and that makes it behave more like a rich neutral.
The hardware here is silver, and that is a deliberate contrast: cool metal against a warm yellow keeps the bag from drifting into a golden-toned whole. The frame is twenty-five centimetres across and thirteen deep, with the usual two rolled handles. An amber like this also flatters gold jewellery and brass hardware on other accessories without matching any of them exactly.
What fits is predictable and pleasant. A phone, a card sleeve, keys, a compact, and a small pouch for earbuds. The interior is unlined in the sense that matters to me, meaning nothing bulky to steal capacity.
Now the caveat. Lighter, warmer dyes can be more sensitive to sun than deep colours, and Togo’s grain will fade unevenly from the top down if the bag lives on a sunny shelf. Store it shaded and it stays true. Mine has been carried outdoors often and has only mellowed slightly. The soft grain creases gently where the flap bends, which is normal and not something you need to treat.
The pebbled surface is forgiving of the small knocks that come with everyday use, and the silver plates have worn in cleanly rather than pitting.
