Hardware is a mood decision, and this Roulis makes the quieter one. Gold is the house’s classic caramel, dense and warm and unmistakable, and pairing it with silver-tone metal gives the leather a cooler edge, like saddle hide laid next to brushed steel rather than brass. I understood how much that contrast matters only after seeing the same leather under gold; the two bags seem to come from different decades.
The frame measures 18 cm across and sits squarely against the body. I carry a phone, a card case, keys and a small mirror, and the seven-centimetre depth means the bag never bulges, even with a compact inside. The flap falls clean over the front without creasing.
Evercolor is the practical heart of it: a soft, fine-grained calf that keeps its shape far better than its smoothness suggests. The silver clasp is the same swivel anchor chain as on the gold version, only now the bag reads a touch more modern and a touch less traditional. The flap lines up straight along the front edge, a detail I notice every time I close it in a hurry.
One honest note: caramel with silver divides people. If you grew up believing tan leather belongs with gold, the mix can feel restless at first. I settled on it quickly, because with grey, navy or blue denim it suddenly makes complete sense and never looks borrowed from someone else’s closet. Photographs complicate the question; daylight settles it.
