Gris Tourterelle is the grey of a dove’s wing, which is to say it is a grey with warmth in it rather than any coolness. Put rose gold hardware on that and the whole thing goes soft and slightly romantic, without becoming a pastel bag. Dove grey with warm metal is a pairing that almost never appears on a shelf, which is part of why this one stands out.
Togo from France supplies the surface, twenty-five centimetres across by twenty high and thirteen deep. The pebble grain gives the dove grey a fine dappled texture, so it reads as a colour with depth rather than a flat wash.
Carrying it day to day, I fit a phone, a card case, keys, sunglasses in a soft sleeve and a compact. The rolled handles take a forearm comfortably and the soft leather means the bag leans against me rather than standing off.
The thing to know is that rose gold plates show wear differently from silver. They develop a warmer, slightly bronzed tone with handling, and on a grey leather that shift is visible. Some buyers want the metal to stay pink and bright; over years, it will not. The leather has taken on a slight sheen along the handle tops where my hands rest, and I like how lived-in it looks.
Beyond that, the Togo has held its shape and the corners are still clean. A grey that photographs particularly well in daylight.
