Blue Zalige is a powdery pale blue, closest to the sky on a hazy morning, and it is a colour that surprises people who assume a light Birkin has to be pink or cream. With silver hardware it stays cool and clean rather than sugary. The colour is also a quiet one, so it works with a pale trench and with denim in the same week without looking like two different bags.
In French Togo, the proportions are 25 cm wide, 20 tall and 13 deep, with silver-tone plates. On a colour this pale the pebble grain does extra work, breaking up the surface so minor marks disappear into the texture instead of sitting on top of it.
Everything I actually use goes in without a fight: a phone, a cardholder, keys, a compact, a small lipstick pouch. The flap closes without strain, and the soft grain means the bag settles against the body nicely when worn on the arm.
The thing to accept before buying pale blue: it will show transfer from denim and from dark linings, most likely along the back panel. I avoid raw indigo with it entirely and it has stayed clean. On the subject of wear, the light grain has held up; the only real maintenance is keeping it away from dark denim.
In bright sun, the colour washes out slightly and looks almost white, which some people love and others do not. Indoors and in evening light, the blue is at its best.
