Two-tone exotics are where a wardrobe gets interesting, and this one pairs deep green with a darker blue, in glazed alligator, under black hardware. From a metre away it reads as a single dark bag with an unusual depth; from close up, the seam where Vert Rousseau meets Blue Saphir is the detail people always comment on.
Palm-sized at 19 by 15 cm, it behaves like a proper mini: phone, card case, keys, lipstick, and nothing more. The flap is stiff enough that it holds its line when open, and the noir H clasp sinks into the dark leather instead of announcing itself, which is the opposite of most Constance hardware and, I think, the right call here.
Glazed alligator is a surface you look after. The scutes on mine are flat and regular, the sort you only get from a well-selected Mississippi hide, and the finish throws light in long, low streaks. I keep it out of the rain and away from anything with alcohol in it, and I accept a certain babying in exchange for the effect.
My honest limitation: two-tone narrows the outfits it agrees with, and I wear it mainly with navy, black, grey and cream. Within that palette it is the most interesting bag I own. The clasp sits flush when closed, and the gussets keep the two colours in a clean, straight division rather than letting them muddle. I would not choose it as an only bag, but there is nothing else quite like it.
