Run a thumb across ostrich and you feel why people pay attention. The quill follicles sit like small polished islands in the leather, and under this P9 Anémone colouring they catch light with every movement of your arm. It is a quiet texture from two metres away and a conversation up close, which is my favourite kind of detail.
Anémone skips the candy register entirely; on this 19 cm shell — fifteen tall, four deep — it reads like raspberry coulis rather than bubblegum. The capacity is exactly what a small bag should be: a phone, a card holder, a slim key pouch and one lipstick. No less, and no pretending otherwise.
Ostrich in this trade almost always comes from South African farms, which is the standard origin and worth knowing if you are comparing sources. The leather is light for its strength and it does not stiffen the way some exotics do. Silver hardware keeps everything cool and graphic, and the clasp is firm.
The honest note: quills are beautiful precisely because they are three-dimensional, which means dry air over years can lift the occasional one. Condition the leather two or three times a year, avoid radiators, and it stays supple. This is not a bag you throw into a car footwell and forget.
Treated well it will look better at five years old than at five days old — high maintenance on paper, low effort in practice, provided the leather stays fed and far from heat.
