The Mini Maillon is a chain link that stepped out of the chain and became the pendant, and in black it stops behaving like jewellery and starts behaving like a signature. The link measures 0.79 by 0.47 of an inch, plated in rose gold, on a chain adjustable anywhere between 16.5 and 18.9 inches.
That adjustment range is the quiet gift of the design. Set short, it sits at the base of the throat like a choker; set long, it drops to the top of a shirt. I move mine depending on the collar, which takes a second and changes the whole outfit.
Over a white poplin shirt I wear it open with the link flat against the collarbone, where black enamel on rose gold looks deliberate and slightly severe. Over a cream knit in winter I lengthen it so the link rests on the wool.
Two honest notes. The finish is plating, so keep perfume and hairspray away from the pendant and wipe it after hot days; and at 0.79 of an inch it is a small object, so on a tall frame it reads as a detail rather than a focal point. Made in France, with the clasp light enough that the necklace never pulls.
If you are new to the line, this is the version I would start with: dark plating on rose gold hides small scratches better than pale finishes do, and the adjustable chain forgives a bad guess about length. I have worn mine against collars, scarves and zips without any drama.
