This is the smallest-fitting bracelet in my whole collection, and that is the point of it. It is a double tour, so a finely braided cord of Swift calfskin wraps twice around the wrist and closes on a metal Roulis clasp, and this size runs from about 5.3 to 5.7 inches. If a standard bangle has ever slid around your arm like a loose coin, this is the format to try instead.
Mauve Sylvestre is a greyed, dried-lavender mauve, dusty rather than sweet, and it takes on a deeper, warmer tone where the braid folds against itself. The metal is palladium plated, so a cool silver, and the braid itself is only 0.12 inches across, which means the two wraps together still take less space than a watch strap. Made in Italy, and the finish is neat enough to read as fine work close up.
Wearing it, I like the doubled line: it gives the wrist a tattooed, almost wristband quality that a rigid bangle cannot, and it looks especially good with a linen shirt, a bare wrist and no watch at all. In winter I pair it with a black cashmere sleeve, where the mauve shows as a soft contrast, and it also layers under a leather watch strap if the two leathers are close in tone.
Two honest things about Swift calfskin: it is smooth and fine, so it marks more readily than a grained leather if you catch it on a zip, and it dislikes water and hand cream, which dull the surface over time. Keep it dry, store it flat in its pouch, and the colour will deepen rather than fade.
