The first time I held one Etrivière dangle earring I understood what 108 diamonds actually means: not sparkle, but a continuous line of light, almost two inches long, that moves when you do.
The piece is a slender bar in 750/1000 white gold, barely an eighth of an inch wide, studded from end to end and finished so the stones sit as one furrow of brilliance rather than a row of separate points. At 1.47 carats the total is substantial for something this slim, and the effect is frankly evening jewellery: hair up, shoulders bare, nothing else competing.
I borrow mine for weddings and black-tie dinners, where their length balances a high neckline beautifully. They are surprisingly light to wear for their size, since the thin profile keeps the pull on the lobe gentle, though I would not wear them all day at a desk; they swing and could catch on a headset or the back of a chair.
Honest trade-offs: white gold benefits from occasional rhodium refinishing over the years, diamonds need cleaning to stay fiery, and a piece with this many small settings deserves a proper jewellery box rather than a dish on the dressing table. They are also, by nature, an earring for occasions rather than for a supermarket run.
Handled with a little care, and wiped before each outing, they will outlast every dress you pair them with. Made in France in solid white gold.
