A pair of these has become my default small gift for birthdays, thank-yous and new jobs, because the size is universal, the finish is flattering and nobody has ever had to ask what they are.
This is the Système colourway with rose-gold plating, and to my eye it is the quietest of the Rocabar group. The stripe keeps the pattern low-key, the rose gold softens it further, and the result works with a white blouse on a Tuesday as easily as it does with smarter clothes at a christening on Sunday.
Size-wise, think small: nine millimetres tall, seven wide, two grams on the scale. They disappear into a second or third hole on a busy ear, which is how I prefer to wear them when three other studs are doing louder work. Alone, they are neat and unremarkable in the best sense of the word, and I have worn them with a knitted dress in a way that looked exactly like what they are, a considered piece of very small Parisian whimsy.
Honest notes: plated metal means no showers, no swimming, no perfume sprayed directly onto the enamel. And if you are buying them as a gift, remember that earrings assume pierced ears; for a friend who is unsure, the matching bracelet makes the safer gesture.
One more thing I have learned from giving these away: the small format travels well inside a card, and the box is presentable enough that no extra wrapping is needed.
