The first sandal I have owned that I am genuinely happy to wear to dinner. The Jackson in black calfskin has one wide strap, a shiny black PVD-plated buckle, and nothing else competing for attention. Sole height is 0.5 inch on flat black rubber, so you stay close to the ground and walk rather than perch.
The footbed is black calfskin over the rubber base, firmer than a padded foam bed and, for me, better over a long distance because my arches want support rather than squish. Black lambskin lines the underside of the strap, so the leather never bites into the top of the foot, even on a warm day.
Sizing runs 40 to 46, and the buckle offers a real range of adjustment, which means a wider foot gets the space it needs without the strap gaping at the side. They are made in Italy.
What I would flag: the shiny PVD buckle collects fingerprints, and it will hold fine scratches if you drop your keys in the same bag. An open sandal also means dust reaches the insole daily, so two minutes with a damp cloth keeps the black looking intentional rather than tired. Do that and they age well. A season in, the calfskin has taken the shape of my foot across the insole, which makes them fit better than on day one rather than worse. The strap has softened at the fold without stretching, and the buckle still grips at the hole I chose in April.
