A beige sneaker can look apologetic, a colour chosen to offend no one. This one does not. The linen-beige technical mesh has real texture, with tones that shift as the knit crosses itself, and the honey rubber insert at the back gives the chalky palette a warm edge that keeps the whole pair from going flat.
Sport goatskin reinforces where the shoe takes stress, around the eyelets and collar, so the mesh is allowed to stay light and breathable. The sole sits 1.6 inches high, enough to soften a day on cobblestones, and the white rubber keeps the line clean under trousers. Inside, lamb’s skin lines the insole, and the mesh lining is stitched rather than bonded, the kind of detail you only notice in year two. The knit has kept its shape around the collar rather than relaxing into folds, which was my main worry with mesh uppers.
The box includes two lace sets, white and linen beige, and I switch between them by season: beige through summer, white when I want the pair to look sharper against denim. Made in Italy, sizes 36 to 41, and I take my usual size in these.
Honest warning: pale mesh collects city dust, and the white sole scuffs. Mine gets a wipe with a damp cloth most weeks and an occasional pass with a gum eraser on the midsole. If you want a pair you can neglect, this is not it; if you want the lightest-looking sneaker in the room, it is.
