Beige has many dialects, and galet is the cool, stony one. Set beside the warmer naturel and the grey-leaning esquisse in the same collection, this pebble beige reads almost like wet pebble grey – which is precisely why it works with so much of what I already own.
The calfskin upper and adjustable strap are the standard Chypre arrangement, sitting on an anatomical rubber sole with a black outsole and black calfskin insole; the lining is pebble beige lambskin, so the inside tone continues the outside story. Sizes run 36 to 41 with a half-inch heel.
Practical experience: I wore these through a June of pavement walking and one long airport day, and the lambskin lining kept my feet comfortable without a hint of strap bite. The shaped footbed does most of the work, holding the arch so the toes do not claw at the front edge with every step.
Given the cool tone, I reach for it with grey, stone and washed denim, and it looks especially good against tanned skin in high summer. The black sole breaks up the pale tones nicely, so the sandal never tips into looking like a slipper with pretensions.
Know this going in: a pale strap accumulates sunscreen and dust, and the buckle leather darkens where you fasten it daily. A wipe after each wear keeps things even, and honestly the slight deepening around the buckle looks like what it is – a sandal that gets worn. The black rubber outsole also hides under-sole wear well, so the tidy part of the sandal lasts.
