Grey-brown leather has a reputation for playing safe. In the case of this ck18 Etoupe mini Bearn, I would argue it is playing smart: it reads as a considered neutral against navy, army green, camel or black, which effectively makes it the wallet that suits every coat in the hall.
This is the compact cut, roughly ten by eight centimetres, and it behaves like a wallet for people who have already decided what matters. Two cards, a folded note and a season ticket go in easily; a third card and a receipt fit without drama. The gold plate on the strap keeps the otherwise reserved palette warm, and the flap closes on the first attempt every time. I have handed it to friends to try, and nobody has fumbled it yet.
Epsom at this size is a quietly clever choice. The pressed grain is stiff enough that the flap holds a neat curve after months in a pocket, and dense enough that the Etoupe shade resists the smudging that soft neutrals collect. Mine has picked up a faint polish along the fold where my thumb works, and otherwise still looks like the day it arrived.
A frank note: neutrals of this kind are diplomatic, and diplomacy is not exciting. If you want a wallet that starts conversations, this is not that piece. What it does give you is years of looking correct, in every bag, with every outfit, without a single decision. Some days that is exactly the point.
