Rouge Piment is chilli red – bright, leaning orange, and the only red I have kept in a decade of trying reds. Most scarlet wallets look cheap in daylight; this one looks like a warning, in the best way.
It is the Duo format again: a folded body ten centimetres wide, a sleeve on each face, and a silver-toned edge finish that is almost hidden against the dye. Six cards hold comfortably, and a folded bill sits behind the card stack on either side. Nothing about the construction distracts from the colour, which is the right call for a wallet this vivid.
Chèvre gives the build its body while Swift supplies the smooth, fine-grained surface that makes the red glow rather than glare. In daylight the surface has a faint warmth rather than a gloss, closer to lacquer than to shine. In a black coat through winter it is the only colour on me, and it does more for an outfit than any scarf I own.
Two warnings, both learned the hard way. Red calf shows dark smudges from receipts and banknotes more readily than black or brown, so I keep this one in a pocket with nothing else in it. And the colour is genuinely loud – it will dominate a bag’s interior and be the first thing anyone notices about your carry. The upside is that it never looks accidental; on a grey day it is the brightest thing I carry.
Rotated with a neutral in the bad-weather months, it stays pristine and keeps its role as the wallet I pick when the day needs lifting.
