Box calfskin has a gloss that reads like polished wood, and on a card holder that lives in your hand, that gloss is the whole point. This one, in a deep Prussian blue, is dark enough to pass for black in a coat pocket and clearly blue the moment daylight finds it.
The Calvi Duo is a compact card holder at 7 by 10 by 2 cm, closer to a thick stack of cards than to a wallet. Two sides mean cards can be sorted by use, daily ones on one face and the rest kept behind, with a slim middle that takes a folded note or two. That is honestly the limit, and the limit is the reason it disappears into a pocket without a trace.
Box calf takes scratches, and there is no pretending otherwise. Fingernails and keys will leave fine lines, and on a dark glossy leather they show until the surface warms and the oils close them a little. The compensation is that this leather also polishes, so a soft cloth and a minute of attention can bring the shine back. Mine carries a few honest marks and looks better for them, though anyone who wants a permanently pristine surface should choose a grained leather instead.
For a jacket pocket or a small evening bag, it is the least bulky way I have found to carry cards properly.
