Gris Perle is a soft, cool pearl grey, and ostrich is the leather that makes it interesting, because the quill dots break up the surface so the grey never looks flat or washed out. Silver hardware keeps the whole thing quiet.
The shape is the standard pochette frame: 22 cm wide, 12 cm tall, 7 cm deep, with a single rolled handle and the Kelly-style flap. It carries a phone, a cardholder, keys and a lipstick, and it manages that without the weight of a full-size bag, because ostrich is one of the lightest leathers there is.
That lightness comes with an instruction: ostrich dries out more readily than calf, and once the follicles lift and crack there is no repairing them. I keep mine away from radiators and out of direct sun, and I condition the flap lightly once a year. Rain is survivable if I wipe it dry immediately afterwards.
Worn with a grey coat or a cream dress, this pochette looks far more understated than the material deserves, which is the point.
What surprises people about grey ostrich is how neutral it turns out to be. It works with black evening wear and with a linen shirt, which is more range than most exotics offer, and the texture keeps it from vanishing inside a grey outfit. Of everything I own in a special leather, this is the least precious to carry.
