Blue Mykonos does not pretend to be navy. It is a bright, clear Aegean blue – the sort you see painted on shutters, boat hulls and shutters again – and it makes a wallet look like it has just come back from a holiday. Silver hardware keeps it crisp; gold would have muddied an uncomplicated blue like this.
The long 17.5 cm frame holds everything a wallet should: notes that never need folding, card slots with just enough grip, a coin section deep enough to skip the nightly emptying ritual, and space behind the cards for the receipt you will probably never need but keep anyway. It has been in my hand through a long run of restaurant dinners, and the colour looks exactly as bright at the end of the evening as at the start.
Trade-offs. Epsom scuffs show as pale marks on a blue this saturated, so keep it away from loose keys. And bright dyes of any colour are worth keeping out of hours of direct summer sun; a car dashboard is not a holiday for a wallet. Beyond that, it asks nothing of you.
Beyond that it is as low-maintenance as leather gets – water beads off, dust wipes off, and the colour does not go dull.
A small blue holiday you can keep in your pocket all year. Mine has survived two summers of sandy hands and one spilled drink.
