October is this bag’s month. A camel coat, brown boots, and the Kelly 35 in 37 Gold doing what camel leather does best in low autumn light: glowing quietly rather than announcing itself. The gold hardware warms the picture further, so the whole bag reads as one tone, and against raw wool or flannel it looks like it has always been there.
Togo at 35cm is the sensible marriage of the two. The pebbled grain gives the caramel depth and movement, and it takes rain spots without drama, which matters on a colour this visible. The 35 by 24 by 12 cm body is my idea of the right everyday size: wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses, a small notebook and a folded cardigan all fit, and the bag still closes with one hand on the turn-lock.
In spring the same bag reads lighter and more casual, and with white denim and a breton top it becomes almost coastal. That range, autumn tailoring to summer linen, is why camel holds its place in so many wardrobes. The strap sits comfortably on the shoulder at this size and does not slide, even over a silk blouse.
Two honest notes. Caramel leather gains a soft sheen at the touch points, the handle and the flap edge, with happy use; mine did within the first year, and I like it, though buyers who want a bag to look untouched should look at Epsom instead. And new dark denim can leave a faint transfer on the back panel if worn tight against the hip. A small habit of checking on the way home is all it asks.
