Ciel means sky, and this bag behaves like it: pale, open, a blue with white in it, so soft that gold hardware is the only thing keeping the whole piece from floating away. I first carried mine to a harbour lunch where everything was linen and haze, and the bag looked like it belonged to the afternoon in a way that deeper blues never quite manage.
On the 32, Togo makes the colour feel three-dimensional. The pebbled grain breaks up the pale surface, adding shadow and depth that a smooth leather would have flattened, and the 32 by 23 by 10.5 cm body carries comfortably: wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses and a folded shirt for later. The turn-lock and strap are as effortless as ever, and the gold metal adds a touch of warmth that softens the blue further.
Styling rewards a little courage. With a white dress or stone linen it is obvious; with grey wool in winter it is unexpectedly good, a chip of sky over a dark city coat. I would keep it away from bright prints, which turn it into a wallflower.
The honest note concerns the colour itself: Ciel is paler in person than on most screens, and light blue hides nothing, so store it in its dust bag, keep dark denim away from it, and accept that it will show the year’s small marks as part of its story. Buy it for the light and the lift, not for disguise.
