Vert Criquet is a grass green with a clear yellow undertone – think a cricket pitch in June, not a pine forest – and it gives this Kelly 28 an unapologetically cheerful air. Epsom sharpens the brightness rather than softening it, so the colour arrives crisp and even, and the gold hardware reads almost honeyed against it.
The 28 by 22 by 10 centimetre format keeps the bag practical despite the mood: wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses and a slim pouch inside, strap detachable, corners firm enough to set down on grass without a second thought. I take mine to picnics and garden parties precisely because it refuses to look precious.
Wear and care are straightforward. The embossed grain wipes clean, light rain beads off, and the bright colour is surprisingly kind to scuffs – a faint mark on yellow-green hides better than on red or white. The rigid structure keeps the flap edges from curling, which matters more on bright colours where every shadow shows.
Honest note: yellow-greens divide people, and this one is no exception. Seen against a wall of beige neutrals it is refreshing; seen beside olive or teal it can argue. I pair it with white, denim and grey, and leave the other greens at home.
For anyone building a wardrobe that looks forward to summer, Vert Criquet is the burst of lawn you can carry with you.
