Two leathers in one tone: the body is Togo, pebbled and supple, and the piece brings in Mississippi alligator in the same 37 Gold family. Held in the hand the effect is not decorative so much as textural, one surface fine and even, the other composed of flat tiles, and the two only reveal themselves as different materials when the light rakes across them.
Togo is the soft one of the classic French workhorses: a naturally grained calf, light, lightly resistant to rain, and happy to be carried hard. It has a gentle give, so this Kelly holds its architecture while remaining comfortable under the arm. Alligator, by contrast, is firm and cool to the touch; where it appears, the edge stays flat and the corner stays sharp.
Inside a 25 by 17 by 7 cm frame I carry the usual: phone, card holder, keys, sunglasses, and a small notepad when I am working. Gold hardware unifies everything.
The honest note is about age. The two surfaces will not wear at the same speed; Togo will soften and mellow first, alligator will hold its shine longer, so this is a bag that will look visibly bitonal in five years rather than uniform. If that bothers you, choose a single-leather build. If you like the idea of a bag that develops an uneven history, this combination is the more interesting choice.
