Mushroom is the colour equivalent of a perfect grey sweater: 0T is a warm, dry taupe with no pink and no green, and on chèvre’s fine-grained surface it looks like soft stone rather than a fashion colour. I have carried this Kelly Mini 2 through a whole autumn and it matched everything from rust to navy without ever being the topic of conversation.
Gold hardware is the warmer choice here, and Mushroom is one of the few neutrals where I prefer it — the brass glow lifts the taupe out of plainness and echoes the natural undertone of goat leather itself. The mini format is 19 x 12 x 5.5 cm, and chèvre keeps the weight low enough for all-day crossbody wear with phone, card case, keys, lipstick and a compact inside.
What I noticed after weeks of use is how well this colour photographs and how little it dates: mushroom sits comfortably between beige and grey in a way few leather shades manage, so it never feels seasonal. In spring it reads ash; in winter, warm stone. The zip pocket takes coins, the clochette swings free, and the strap mounts have taken the strain without any visible stretch.
An honest paragraph on ownership: chèvre records small contact marks more readily than Epsom, and on a mid-tone like Mushroom you will occasionally spot a light scratch that a small amount of cream and a fingertip will blur away. If that bothers you, choose Epsom in this colour; if you want a leather that feels alive in the hand, chèvre is the right answer, and this is the most wearable colour it comes in.
