Mauve behaves like grey until you stand it next to actual grey. X9 is a dusty, slightly smoky purple with enough grey in it to wear like a neutral, and the moment it sits beside true charcoal the undertone surfaces and the bag becomes the most interesting thing in the outfit without raising its voice.
Epsom suits this colour more than any other leather in the range would. The even, pressed grain reads matte under most light, which is exactly what a muted purple wants — no glossy sheen pulling the colour towards lilac. Silver hardware keeps it cool all the way through.
Proportioned at 19 cm wide, 12 cm high, 5.5 cm deep, it holds what I need: phone, a flat cardholder, keys, lipstick. I have carried it with cream, with black, with navy and with grey flannel, and it has never once been the problem in the mirror. It is also the bag I lend to friends who insist they cannot wear purple.
Two honest notes. Mauve is a chameleon, so what you see in one room will not be what you see in another — check it in daylight before deciding. And the purple can occasionally argue with warm reds and oranges if they are worn as a large block. Keep those apart and it is frictionless.
If you want one bag that quietly answers every wardrobe question, this is on a very short list.
