Noir, Blue Indigo and Rouge Grenat on a single small bag sounds like too much until you see how the three behave together: the black carries the shape, the indigo cools it, and the grenat adds one deep, almost secret note of red. It is a three-colour bag that reads as two colours most of the time and as a surprise when the light changes.
Epsom is the reason it works. The pressed grain takes each colour with the same even, slightly matte finish, so no shade outshines another, and the bag’s firm construction keeps every panel flat and deliberate rather than casual. Silver hardware was the right cold choice with indigo in the mix.
Inside the 19 x 12 x 5.5 cm Kelly Mini I carry exactly what the size allows: phone, cardholder, keys, lipstick. I treat the colours as a system — one outfit answering to one of them, usually the black, with the other two doing their work in glances. Worn over an all-black outfit, the red and blue edges are the entire reason the look works.
Honest note: multi-colour bags are a commitment. If you want a single-colour piece or you coordinate your wardrobe in blocks, this will not be your bag, and forcing it into a matching outfit wastes it. It is at its best with clothes that contain none of its colours.
For an outfit of solid black or grey, it is the most interesting small bag I know.
