Most brown bags I have owned turned into a version of chocolate; Ecorce does something else. It is bark-brown with a cool, almost grey-green undertone, which is why it reads modern next to camel coats and not dated next to black. I carried this Kelly Mini 2 through a month of commutes, and it quietly became the bag I reached for on mornings when I could not decide.
Nineteen by twelve by five and a half centimetres is a deliberate kind of small. A phone, keys, a cardholder and a lipstick fit with room to spare; a paperback does not, and I have made peace with that. Epsom calfskin holds the boxy silhouette like a pressed shirt: the grain is stamped in with heat, so it shrugs off raindrops and casual knocks, and the corners will not soften into slouch the way softer hides do.
Silver hardware keeps the tone low-key, and the turn-lock closes with a crisp click I have come to treat as a small daily ritual. The top handle is stiff enough to stand up on a table, so the bag sits like a little box rather than flopping over on its side.
What to know before you commit: Epsom is firm by design, so the bag never quite hugs your side on the long strap, and a deep scratch tends to stay rather than buff out. Pair it with textured knits, and let the leather do the rest.
