In leather terms, gold is not metallic. It is the warm sandy tan of natural hides, and it may be the most useful colour in this whole family. My Gold Evelyne has been in near-continuous rotation because it agrees with white shirts, olive jackets, brown boots and faded denim alike.
The size is the middle one: twenty-nine centimetres between the sides, which for me is the sweet spot. Daily carry is a slim wallet, phone, keys, sunglasses and a small notebook, all easy to reach because the top is open and the outer pocket sits flat against the body. On weekends I add a paperback and a bottle, and nothing strains.
Clemence’s pebbled surface takes colour unevenly in the best way. Up close, the Gold shows flecks of lighter and darker tone, so it never looks like a flat block of dye, and it disguises small marks far better than a smooth finish would. The trade-off is softness: the bag folds when you set it down, and the strap can mark the front panel in storage, so I hang it rather than fold it.
Silver-tone hardware is a cooler partner than you might expect, and it keeps the look casual. Scuffs from belt buckles and market stalls have blended into the hide’s own colouring instead of standing out. For a first Evelyne in a shade you will never tire of, this is my recommendation.
