Vert Comics is a bright, saturated green that makes a plain outfit look intentional. It is not a shy colour, and on the Evelyne 16 I like it best against grey, white or denim, anywhere it can act as the one loud note in an otherwise quiet sentence.
The Epsom leather is the right partner for it. Its uniform, pressed grain gives the colour a graphic quality, like enamel rather than grass, and the firmness keeps the small square body crisp at the corners. Silver hardware stays cool against the green, and the cut-out H reads almost like a cutout in a poster. Measurements: 16 by 18 cm, five centimetres deep, on an adjustable strap.
What goes inside: phone, cards, keys and a lip balm, the same tight kit every small Evelyne demands. It looks best with nothing else in it. I take it to galleries, to lunch, to anywhere I want the bag to speak first, and it has never once looked out of place with a green jumper I own in almost the same shade, which was not planned.
My honest caution is about wardrobe fit rather than the bag: a green this saturated does not flatter every autumn colour scheme, and it will clash with olive and mustard if you let it. Treated as a deliberate contrast piece, though, it is pure joy, and it has stayed bright through two years of use.
One green, worn without apology. This is the one I would choose.
