Purple is the colour people admit to loving privately. Iris — the deep, cool violet here — is the shade that started all of it for me, and it arrives on this Danse in Evercolor calfskin with its fine, even grain and gentle matte finish. Twenty-two centimetres across the face, sixteen to the flap, and somehow the compact silhouette looks more formal in this colour, like a scrap of velvet in a leather vocabulary.
Carried contents on a typical evening: phone, cardholder, keys, and a pen I never use but like having. The turnlock and studs are silver here, which I prefer for Iris — gold would push it toward costume, while silver keeps the violet mineral and cool. In winter light the bag reads almost ink; in summer, clearly purple. That range is why I never got bored of it.
The trade-off: purple is a commitment. It plays beautifully with greys, denims and creams, less so with warm browns and bright greens. If your wardrobe is mostly neutrals, Iris is safe and strange in the best way.
Evercolor holds up well to daily handling, and the flap edge — the first place cheap bags fray — is cleanly finished and stays that way. Worn with a white shirt in summer it is the accent that decides the day; in winter the same Danse trades places with greys and lets the leather do the talking.
