Sauge is the kind of green you notice only on the second look — dried sage rather than grass, with enough grey in it to pass as a neutral. I carried this mini through a spring of beige trench coats and white shirts, and it never once looked loud.
Space is tighter than it looks. Nineteen centimetres across, twelve and a half tall, nine deep: my phone lies flat on the bottom, a compact card wallet slides in beside it, and keys and a lipstick fill what is left. The two rolled top handles fold down flat when I shorten the strap and wear the bag across the body.
Clemence is soft straight out of the box — pebbled and matte, slouching gently at the sides. That softness is exactly why the shape stays friendly when it is not full; a rigid bag this small can look like a box, and this one never does.
Against the grey-green, the silver hardware reads almost white. The clasps and the twin zippers have a cool, matte look that I prefer here over gold — gold would warm the shade into something more autumnal than I want.
A word of honesty: sauge drifts several shades greyer indoors than it looks in daylight. In the right light it is the most interesting neutral I own; in flat light it can pass for stone. Open the box near a window before you decide.
