Black is the one colour I refuse to romanticise: it hides stains, shows dust, and goes with everything I own. This Noir mini with silver hardware does all three without pretending otherwise.
The evening test matters most with a small bag, and this one passes: at nineteen centimetres it sits on a lap through a long dinner, holding a phone, cards, keys and a lipstick, with the strap tucked inside so nothing dangles near a table. Black also solves the wardrobe question on the way out of the door: no decision to make and no colour to coordinate.
Clemence in black is deep and matte, with the pebbled grain reading almost as fabric until light catches it. Silver hardware against this darkness is crisper than gold — it looks modern, works with a steel watch, and never turns the bag into something purely formal. It photographs with a soft depth no other shade in this family manages, because the light disappears into the surface instead of bouncing off it.
The honest part: black matte leather shows dust and lint, and the corners polish slightly shiny with heavy use. Both are visible on black sooner than on mid-tones, and I have made peace with the small glints at the base — they are what a black leather bag looks like once it has actually lived.
If you want one bag to do everything without announcement, this is the one I would hand you. It is the least interesting choice in the best possible way.
