Blue Nuit is darker and cooler than a classic navy, close to midnight with a hint of ink. Against gold hardware it becomes unexpectedly formal, which is why this version lives near my evening clothes rather than my weekend ones.
The construction is the standard Birkin 25: twenty-five centimetres across the base, twenty tall, thirteen deep, French Togo with gold-tone plates and studs. Togo’s pebble grain is the reason a colour this dark still shows depth instead of reading as a flat black blob. The gold hardware brings out a faint purple edge in the blue that only appears in daylight, which I did not expect and now like.
My usual contents are a phone, a cardholder, keys, a lipstick and a small power bank. It carries all of that without the flap straining, and the rolled handles stay comfortable when the bag is at that weight.
The drawback is practical: two dark leathers in one wardrobe, this and a black bag, can feel redundant. If you already own black, be honest about whether you want the blue. I did, because the gold hardware makes it a different bag altogether. Mine has picked up a soft polish along the handle rolls, and the grain across the front remains tight and even.
Grain is even across the front panel and the base studs sit properly, so it rests without tipping. Mine has kept its shape through a year of regular rotation.
